Ho, ho, ho! Well its Christmas time and the federal government is handing out gifts left and right; the only stipulation is to get one you better be a corporation. The federal government announced they will now bailout Citi Bank; oh well what’s another trillion here and a trillion there. Where is it going to stop? There answer is there is no ceiling and the government will continue this reckless action.
Making things even more frustrating was Barack Obama today announcing what can only be described as the New Deal Part II. He is pledging new jobs, which can only be in the government sector, new roads and bridges and solar and wind energy. This means more government workers, more government spending and an ever growing burden on the tax payers. Obama proclaimed his government will have responsible spending, that would make him the true messiah if he accomplished this miracle.
The road this nation is currently on will not lead us out of the forest, it will take us deeper. Government spending cannot stimulate an economy for the long term; they are a Snickers bar; a quick, sugar boost. When the high is over the crash comes, so more sugar is needed. Eventually, the burden will become so great that those carrying it will simply walk away, freeing themselves from government sponsored enslavement. Perhaps then people will understand the importance of a free market and free minds to work within this market.

Have you ever stopped and looked in the mirror and asked, really asked: Am I a liberal or a conservative across the board?
Here is what I am talking about. The farmer, where I live in the middle of conservative America, is both a conservative and a liberal. They are conservative when it comes to guns, they want no government involvement. They are liberal when it pertains to abortion, they want big, intrusive government. Conservative when dealing with welfare, liberal with farm subsidies. Now let’s look at the socialite liberal. Liberal when dealing with environment, government should dictate how people live to protect the environment. Conservative with many civil liberties, all about less government. Liberal with diet and eating habits, bigger government, more involvement.
So, you see this cuts both ways. Conservatives are liberals and liberals are conservatives; confused? Look at this way, almost every American is a big government liberal when dealing with issues they deem correct and implying those to others. People should behave in a specific manner and the government is correct in enforcing it. Yet, when dealing with issues that they either disagree with and/or apply to them, they suddenly become small government conservatives.
If this were not the case, the libertarian party, which supports an individual, freedom, small government agenda would have long since taken power. Yet, they have not and the reason is simple, because they are not liberal/conservative on a issue basis, they are classic liberals on all issues.

The United States Government is once again going after a private citizen; this time it is Mark Cuban. The exotic owner of the NBA Mavericks, Cuban is being accused of an insider trading for a deal with Mamma.com. The SEC is claiming he sold all his shares just before a major announcement which affected the share price. The SEC is claiming this was an inside trader move, which violates regulations.
What is this really? It is another personal vendetta by a government agent against a private citizen. Cuban helped financed the movie Loose Change, that accused George W. Bush of attacking the
World
Trade
Center so he could invade
Iraq. Nuts, yes and Cuban often walks a fine line, but a reason for the government to comb finely through the dealings of a private citizen? No!
Speaking of Cuban, who supported Barack Obama, he posted at the Huffington Post.com his concern with Obama’s economic transition team. Cuban is concerned that there are no business people, only professors and politicians. Hello Mark, Obama does not trust and/or like the business world. Where were you doing the campaign?

The New York Times has a story noting that Barack Obama is reconsidering the closing of Gitmo, the terrorist holding camp at
Guantamo Bay, Cuba.
Liberals have screamed about the inhumanity of this camp, demanding President Bush close it at any cost. Along these same lines they were proponents of putting the terrorist suspects in the American legal system. During the campaign Obama noted he would close the camp; now noting sources close to the Obama camp, the Times is saying Obama may not close the camp; stunning.
After using this issue as one to rip the nation in two, the Democrats are now backing away from it. Of course they are because if you close the camp and toss the detainees into the legal system 99 percent will be freed, because of violations and/or lack of evidence. The next issue to crush the lefties will be
Iraq, where Obama will do nothing more than withdrawing a few showcase troops.
The other evolving issue is the reports of John McCain already reaching out to Obama. We warned conservatives that McCain would governor from the center/left and they were selling their souls supporting him. Now, we are seeing more evidence as he and Lindsay Graham are speaking off crossing the aisle, at the cost of conservative principals; that is how it always works with liberals.
It is funny how people are focused on the magical 60 Senate seat number; folks the Democrats already have a filibuster proof Senate. Does anyone really belief Graham, McCain, Olivia Snowe and others will filibuster any critical piece of legislation based on principal?

Saturday Ramblings:
First, news of the weird: The astronauts aboard the space station will now be drinking filtered urine. Okay, I know it is going through some scientific filter, but gross!
Barack Obama offering Hillary Clinton the Secretary of State..Sure, if they say so, but I have my doubts. This ranks up there with John McCain getting a post in the Obama camp…Just more bipartisan acting, like when politicians say they are going to work for the working man.
Time Magazine cutting jobs and now the Christmas party…Come on mainstream media, do you guys really believe you can isolate half of the country and not feel the effects? Try getting back to reporting the news, instead of being the Obama Weekly.
Finally, the auto bailout; guess what Barack and Nancy the GOP isn’t falling for it this time. If you want a UAW bailout and another ridiculous government spending spree, do it in January…

The bailout for GM and the other automakers is underway; it is only a matter of time. First, let’s be real clear what this really is, it is a bailout of the UAW. It is hard to believe that an investment group or foreign automaker would not swoop in and takeover GM. The problem is this could lead to demise of the UAW. So, the Democrats on the Hill are frantically drafting a bill and hitting the panic button.
The entire situation has become so mind boggling stupid I struggle to find a starting point, but I shall make an attempt. As stated on here a few days ago, I called for stipulations on any loan/bailout plan and that is going to happen. The problem is all restrictions are on the CEO/President side. There are calls for no golden parachute, restrictions on pay etc. The problem with such a move is simple; what highly skilled CEO will take such a position? The answer is probably none. Where are the restrictions on the UAW? The United Autoworkers must take some blame for the situation at GM. Filled with a sense of entitlement; they made and received demands that could not be sustained. Any loan from the taxpayers should demand both management and labor agree to cuts.
Lastly, the loan/bailout simply should not happen. History is full of great companies going belly up from railroads to steel, it happens and we survived. It would be the same case for GM, let it go, just let it go.

The financial bailout has become exactly what many predicted; a feeding frenzy for CEO’s and large businesses. Corporations are flocking to
Washington D.C. to get their piece of the pie and those that have or not doing what they said.
That’s right, banks are not using the money to loan out to consumers, they are hoarding and investing for one purpose; to purchase assets that will make them vital to the American economy and thus get the protection of the federal government. The bailout plan is not bailing out the consumer it is creating monopolies where small banks will be eaten by medium banks, which will be eaten by large banks. In the end, look for four to five banks to control the entire financial system. Does this sound familiar? It should because that is the oil industry and recent events have shown us what a few companies, controlling a critical economic can do; artificially inflate prices and send the economy in a recession.
Now Barney Frank is crying about the usage of the money. Sure Barney, moan and groan about it, after all wasn’t it you that set up the entire stage? The quick answer is yes, yes you did.
Now the automakers desire a bailout and America Express is looking for one. Where will it end? Who will stop it? The answer is nobody and the lesson being taught is first, act reckless and so long as a business can prove they are critical to the economy they are fine. Second, get big enough to become one of these companies where bankruptcy is seen as a national threat. Wonderful…

Rahm Emanuel is Barack Obama’s first move as president-elect. Emanual is a no non-sense, help me or get out of the way type of guy. He is a
Chicago politician, who once drove a steak knife into a table, naming each person who he saw as traitors to Bill Clinton. With each plunged he blurted out; dead. Yep, this guy is tough, mean and he has conservatives screaming about how is this move representative of bipartisanship?
The fact is Rahm Emanuel was picked for Cheif of Staff for more than scaring Republicans; he was picked to control the left wing of the Democratic Party. Obama and Emanuel understand that if this administration, which was seen as the candidate of tax cuts, does not jump off the left wing cliff and watch Congress flip back to the GOP. Emanuel lived through this with
Clinton and his job is to ensure it doesn’t happen with Obama.
Having spent the last few years as a member of the House and the main conductor of the 2006 elections, Emanuel will control Nancy Pelosi and her band of lefties, because he must. Emanuel is not a lefty, regardless of his House record. He supported welfare reform and NAFTA, what Emanuel is, is a realist. He understands that being president and running for president are two very different creatures (the Obama agenda has already been removed from the web site). Look for Obama’s first 100 days to be full of tax cuts, economic stimulation package and a continued reverberation of “we are reviewing the situation in
Iraq.”
Sorry liberals, but Barack Obama will be in the same spot Bill Clinton was, smack down the middle of the road, looking for four more years.

The need to save the auto industry is a pressing; I guess. But here is something I have not heard. Why should the U.S taxpayer step in to bail out an industry that has sent more jobs out of the nation than it has created in the nation? The auto industry and others are saying these are loans, but what do the taxpayers get in return?
Once again, a poorly run economic segment is turning towards the federal government for aid or as they say a loan. Sure why not give it to them, the industry is purely American and after all if it fails, the loss is going to be felt. But, Barack Obama promised, no more tax cuts for those companies sending jobs overseas; remember, it was just a few short days ago, of course maybe he didn’t mean loans.
So, Mr. Soon-to-be President, why not go to GM and Ford and notify them that the loans can be had, but they both must bring back 100,000 jobs for every $10 million loaned. Then call in the UAW and notify them that the auto industry will disappear and their union will be die without these loans are made. With that they will accept wages and benefits in package similar to
Toyota and Honda employees currently working in this nation.
If Barack Obama truly wants to make a difference in his first 100 days, this is the perfect solution and if the auto industry and unions wish to use the taxpayers to save their jobs, then they should be willing to give something back in return.
