Who Am I and What am I Doing Here?

Published by aebersole at 12:05 pm under 1 Edit This

Who Am I and what I am doing here? With apologies to Adm. James Stockdale, all fiscal conservatives supporting John McCain must be asking themselves this question. Their presidential nominee announced last night he is proposing a $300 billion plan that would buy mortgages and allow the government to re-negotiate mortgages with individual holders. The piercing scream coming over the horizon is the death of another private sector.

Such a plan is almost unthinkable and would completely socialize the mortgage market, closing it off and ending another sector of the free market. It is also nothing more than a shameless pandering to voters by McCain, while breaking the backbone of the nation. This is the second glaring failure of McCain to become what he professes; a maverick.

He blindly voted for the bailout plan laced with pork and now he is willing to socialize the financial sector to achieve political success. This morning I would encourage all fiscal conservatives to leave the presidential box empty on November 4 or vote for an alternative candidate. There is nothing worth having when it means sacrificing the principals and ideals that made this nation great.
