Hillary Clinton: Uniting the Party?
Hillary Clinton addressed the Democratic Convention last night and accomplished absolutely nothing. The analysis is not based on her words from last night, but on the words being spoken 12 hours later. Stunningly, across the board the agreement this morning is that Hillary did what was required, but nothing more. She spoke of unity and the party, but it was the missing content that has created the buzz.
There was no gutting of McCain and his policies and in fact the one line being repeated this morning she called him a friend. The nasty side of
Clinton was nowhere to be found, leaving many to wonder what was her purpose? The answer is obvious for those willing to look for it.
Clinton remains angered that not only has Barack Obama stolen her nomination, but even after receiving 18 million votes, Obama and his camp have treated the
Clintons as minor players in the Democratic Party. This snub by Obama could become his biggest flaw of a campaign full of follies. With an opportunity to unite the party with an Obama/Clinton ticket, Obama not only went away from her, but has ignored her. Obama clearly sees
Clinton as a vanquished enemy, arrogantly pushing her aside.
Lastly, Hillary is privately hoping for an Obama loss, setting her up for one last run in 2012. Is this a delusional conspiracy theory? Not so fast. When dealing with the
Clintons it must be remembered that
Clinton comes before anything else, even political theory or policy. She cares about her own personal goals before any other. Secondly,
Clinton is well aware that a McCain presidency, combined with a Democratic Congress is not a dooms day scenario. Right now she is more concerned about an Obama presidency, because when it is over her political clock may have struck midnight.
With just two night remaining the Democrats and Obama are in desperate need of a strong finish.

Ugh. I need to check out this speech, but from blogs I’ve read the overwhelming tone of it is that it was more self-promoting than party-promoting. That’s a real bummer. How does she expect that people will be willing to elect her in the future if she can’t put her party first now?

** The real issue — Control of women **
Xian males, like their muslim brethren, shudder at a technological world in which mental agility has replaced physical strength as a core measure of economic utility. This reordering of values strips away a core faith-based lie: god-ordained male supremacy.
Unresolved to this day is a 4+ decades long struggle over gender equality — equal productive and reproductive rights. Who does The House and Senate back? The relevant group, women themselves, tens of millions of them?
Or white male second-hand-god salesmen? Mouthing pro-natalist social Darwinism tarted up as “family values”. Fundies are obvious offenders, but RCs run a close second.
The people McCain must win will crush women’s aspirations, self realization, reproductive self-determination by direct force. Xian domestic terrorism, like muslim domestic terrorism, humiliates, intimidates, and batters women back to submission.
Protected by complicit federal and state officials, cells of xian thugs have been targeting women and their humane values for decades. Irrationality drives scientific knowledge about sex from America’s schools just as it drives medical research abroad.
Christo-fascists (dominionists) embrace state totalitarianism. Their “truths” can never win popular support. An open society will repudiate their nihilism composed of literalist lies, morally repugnant beliefs, and puritanical atrocities.
