Experience; It Means More Than You Know
Those that deny the importance of experience are the ones who lack it. This could not be more evident than in the presidential race between John McCain and Barack Obama. The fact is not only is John McCain clearly a more experienced politician, but those around him are far more seasoned than the Obama camp.
McCain’s camp is trouncing Obama at every move, leaving the Obama folks stunned and bewildered. Take a look at of the recent exchange for exhibit A. John McCain was asked how many homes he owned. The Arizona Senator stumbled admitting he really wasn’t clear. Obama jumped on this answer and began talking about housing and McCain’s elitist status. Showing the savvy of a veteran campaign, the McCain folks instantly attacked Obama and his affiliation with a housing developer in
Illinois, Tony Rezco, who appears to be nothing more than a slum lord advantage McCain.
Even Obama’s shining moment was turned against him, his recent trip to
Europe. McCain has been able to use Obama’s popular movement and paint him as nothing more than a mere celebrity. In the end, the trip has become; advantage McCain.
Obama still has time to turn around the campaign and avoid becoming Huey Long, there is lots of time. But his camp must realize who they are dealing with. McCain’s people are aggressive, opportunistic and seasoned. They have frustrated Obama and forced him to spend more time refining himself against the picture painted by McCain, than defining himself as
America’s best option for the presidency.

While I can understand your points on some counts, I systematically disagree with you that Obama is lagging behind McCain. What he lacks in foreign policy and experience he has gained with the addition of Biden to the ticket just as I would expect McCain to do with his VP pick most likely being someone who is strong on economic issues.
Obama’s biggest mistake thus far, in my opinion, is in not choosing Clinton as a running mate. That move has disenfranchised 18 million Democrats who would have been more likely to stick with the party, particularly the women. If McCain shows his true maverick colors and chooses a female running mate, Obama may well have cost himself the Presidency.

I agree 100% with the last point…He has made a hugh mistake in not picking Hillary, who is clearly not willing to join him.
