McCain Takes Five Point Lead
A new Rueters/Zogby poll shows John McCain leading Barack Obama 46%-41%, this marks the first time McCain was leading and erases a 7 point Obama lead in July.
On the eve of the Democratic Convention, McCain has surged ahead of Obama, by putting the Democrat nominee on the constant defense. Obama is teetering on the dangerous verge of letting McCain define him as inexperienced and not up of for the job.
This is a dangerous point for the Illinois Senator. Although there is still time to fight off the McCain attacks, time is ticking. He must find a way to show that he is not only capable of being president, but more capable then McCain, a difficult task as noted in the Zobgy poll.
McCain is now seen more by voters as the better pick for the economy as the gas prices soar and the Dems drag their feet on offshore drilling. He is also leading in most of the presumed battle ground states.
Obama would be wise to implement his own line, time for change. He must change from catering to the left wing of his party and start appearing as a value oriented candidate.
But that is not Obama’s only problem. As voters learn more about Obama they have been asking; what can we do and what is it we are going do? If those remain unanswered his campaign is in trouble.

Obama just isn’t going on the offense as much as McCain is. He really needs to show that four years of McCain are four more years of Bush.
