Obama and McCain Appear Ready to Announce Veep.

Published by aebersole at 1:37 pm under Current News Edit This

Both Democratic and Republican nominees Barack Obama and John McCain appear ready to announce their veep choices.

Obama’s decision must be coming any moment now as the Democratic convention is next week. Traditionally the ticket is announcement is followed by a whirlwind tour of the nation. The speculation is rampant on who the choice is, but word from those in Denver is that Hillary is still in the running.

As for John McCain his announcement is likely to come the Friday after the Democratic convention in Dayton, OH. There is lots of debate swirling around his choice as conservatives are worried it is going to be a pro-choice candidate. (Tom Ridge is one such name) Such a move would be counterproductive as the conservative base has slowly trickled to McCain, picking a pro-choice running mate would stop this flow and leave McCain once again alienated in the Republican party.

So, who are the picks? I am not even going to speculate because honestly unless one is named Hillary and the other is pro-choice it will have little effect on the campaigns. More important to Obama is finding a way to get off the defensive and on the offense, something he has not done the entire election.
