Hillary Clinton is Back…
For those that have been reading PoliticalChatter, you are aware that we believed Clinton was taking the nomination process to Denver. We might still be right.
When she suspended the campaign Democrats rejoiced as Barack Obama and Clinton appeared together in one brief event. Since that time she has been silent and nearly invisible, but no longer. At a recent fundraiser Clinton clearly indicated she is interested in being nominated at the Democratic Convention. The DNC must be frantic. Their candidate continues to lag in the polls and now Clinton is lurking on the perimeter.
The question is what does she want? The answer is she wants on the ticket. Clinton spent the last few months behaving in the proper manner, positioning herself as a possible VP candidate. Obviously, Obama has given her zero indication she is even under consideration let alone a serious candidate. Now she is rattling the saber forcing her name back into consideration.
As noted on here if Clinton really desires the VP slot Obama must give it to her, simply because she holds so many votes and most of which have remained loyal to her. Polls are indicating a tight race and Clinton is making it very clear, if she walks, her votes are walking with her.
The Obama camp is facing an uncomfortable situation. Polls support Clinton’s position that the party remains split at least enough so to make things interesting. Without her, unity looks impossible. However, with her on the ticket Obama faces the real situation of being overshadowed by not only Hillary, but Bill. Secondly, a Clinton on the ticket is sure to ignite the conservatives, driving them to McCain.
The end game is unknown, but it certainly looks as if chaos is taking over the Democratic party once again.

Putting her on the ticket may secure a few more votes for Obama, but the problems of having a jealous, attention-hogging VP would far outweigh the benefits. And given her distasteful Bobby Kennedy remarks, Obama might want to up his security detail around her.
