Rev. Wright, Aiding McCain?

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

Of Course He is Smiling

It is becoming apparent that John McCain’s prime asset is in fact Barack Obama’s ever prevalent liability; Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Rev. Wright stormed the stage this past week, in what many thought would be the rehab tour, swinging, preaching and thumping on Obama. First, Wright told Bill Moyer, that Obama is just doing what he has to do and he, Wright, is doing what he needs to do. In essence, Barack is being a politician, skirting the topic, riding the fence, while Wright, stands strong on his beliefs and teachings. Continue Reading »

John McCain’s Five Day Tour

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

John McCain spent this past week touring the nation.

On Monday he ventured to Selma, Alabama where he met with African-American voters. McCain is hoping to increase the barely existent percentage of African-American Republican voters.

Tuesday McCain headed to the crucial battle ground state of Ohio and Youngstown. An economically repressed city, McCain reached out to the blue collar, Reagan Democrats. It is these types of voters that McCain is hoping to make the backbone of his campaign.

Wednesday he continued this theme in Inez Kentucky.

Day four was spent in New Orleans, where McCain attacked President Bush and his handling of Katrina. He stated this would not happen under his watch. It was an interesting theme as he placed blame on Bush and none on the local government that clearly failed.

Day five was McCain’s final stop was Arkansas, where he campaigned with Mike Huckabee. McCain addressed a class at Arkansas Baptist College and attended a hog roast. Arkansas is another swing state that could go either way, especially if Hillary Clinton is the nominee.

NC GOP Ad too Hot for McCain.

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

Republican Presidential candidate John McCain is calling on North Carolina GOP to halt a controversial ad. The ad seen above, addresses the connection between Rev. Jermiah Wright and Barack Obama, asking if Obama shares Wright’s radical viewpoints.

McCain’s concern appears to be over the direction the ad takes, which is contrary to his vision. Addressing the issue over the last few days, McCain insists this is not the direction he or his campaign will be taking.

An admirable stance by the Senator on its face, this leaves one to ponder; what will happen when the Democrats begin attacking McCain? Currently, the Dems are in a civil war and thus McCain has been shielded from the nastier side of politics. But, as history shows that is sure to change. With his words of damnation aimed at the NC GOP, it appears McCain has now painted himself into a corner. Somewhere in a dark room, a Dem operative is cutting the tape as you read this.

Another problem with McCain’s hard stance is the fact for many heartlanders, Obama’s association with Wright is not dirty politics, but an issue they want addressed. With the stance McCain has chosen, it is clear he will not push for such answers. Leaving many voters disillusioned and confused as to what McCain’s intentions are.

McCain’s current stance may be a stroke of political genius, tapping into the frustration of independent voters, tired of partisan politics. But, it may also be a self imposed prison, with no route of escape.

McCain Just Keeps On Smiling

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

That thunderous applause heard last night was from John McCain and his camp as the results from Pennsylvania came rolling in.

No, not because he won the primary, but because the Hillary Clinton comeback continues. That means more battling, more blood and the continued weakening of Barak Obama. Continue Reading »

McCain After Obama

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

John McCain attacked Barack Obama Sunday for his friendship with Weather Underground member William Ayers, a radical group from the 1960’s.  It appears that McCain thinks one or two things to be true: Obama is going to be the Democratic nominee and/or he feels Obama the need to paint Obama in a different light, removing the rock star aroma.

In all his attacks, very rarely has McCain gone after Hillary Clinton, his attacks are more often than not targeting Obama. It is clear he is looking to weaken Obama among independent voters and energize the right with claims of Obama’s radicalism. It would appear that the McCain camp believes that Clinton already wears this tag and her name alone would energize the right.

McCain is Right On

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

Recently I have been hearing the proclamation that a higher gas tax is a sound economic policy. This is a foolish premise, simply because no policy which takes money out of a system with zero return is sound. Taking money away from possible investment only has a negative effect.

Second and perhaps most disturbing is the claim of such a tax benefiting society. This leads us to ask: Who makes up society and who are the taxpayers? Simply, they are one in the same, individuals. In essence what is being done is the taking away of assets from the individual with a proclamation that they are helping the individual. It is a baffling concept which is not found in rational thought. Many people are advocating such a thing and justifying the taking of money through the threat of the state’s police power. That is certainly not beneficial to the individual losing the money.

Lastly, some have made the comparison of the alcohol tax, saving lives by slowing down consumption, to the gas tax, which would reduce the consumption of gas; this is laughable. People were being killed by drunk drivers before the liquor tax and are still being killed. Also, there is no comparison between the choice of consuming alcohol and the need for gas. Drinking is a choice or say recreation, gasoline is a need that is necessary for the workforce, the delivery of goods, the production of goods and many more items. Raising the cost of these acts belongings the entire market, higher beer costs has almost no affect on the economy.

The fact is a lower gas tax is a win for everyone, except perhaps those who seek to control the actions of individuals.

Clinton, Obama, Clinton, Obama?

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

The vast confusion in the Democratic primary is causing some headaches for the McCain camp; who do they go after.

Currently, McCain’s official web site features 14 different press releases, tackling Obama, compared to just 3 with Hillary.

As it stands now the McCain camp has been targeting Obama, but insiders are noting that John McCain told his inner-circle that Hillary is still alive and kicking and not to count her out.

This is more a luxury than a problem for McCain. With Clinton and Obama attacking each other, he can pick and choose his attacks or take a hands-off approach and them beat each other up. Either way with each day that goes by, McCain grows stronger and closer to establishing himself as the front-runner for the general election, whenever that might happen.

The Great Shift

Published by aebersole under Current News Edit This

The shift in party affiliation is clear, voters are flooding over to the Democratic side; that is not debatable. But what has people buzzing is the why.

For John McCain, the reason could mean the difference between defeat and victory.

Currently there are two countering theories being tossed around, the popularity of Barrack Obama vs. Operation Chaos.
