McCain Having Money Problems?
The media is reporting the GOP money has shut the vault, with no combination provided to John McCain. McCain has been given a lukewarm reception from many of the big GOP donors. The conundrum for McCain is: Has the conservative revolt spread or is this just politics as normal?
With Democrats continuing their street fight, it is no surprise the vaults are still locked.
Political donors are like so many voters, their support of a candidate is often driven by the fear of the ”the other guy winning”. GOP donors still don’t know who that other guy or gal is going to be.
Secondly, it is really not that uncommon for donors to hold their money. The election remains stuck in primary mode and the general election has yet to start.
If McCain was to implode or have some other catastrophic moment, big donors don’t want to be caught in the middle. They will hold their cards and money until crunch time.
