The media is reporting the GOP money has shut the vault, with no combination provided to John McCain. McCain has been given a lukewarm reception from many of the big GOP donors. The conundrum for McCain is: Has the conservative revolt spread or is this just politics as normal? Continue Reading »

Well it appears that bloggers are being held in a new light by at least one presidential candidate; John McCain. Showing his loyal side McCain is giving bloggers new access to him and his campaign. If he wins does this mean that bloggers will get a seat at the White Press conferences?

Sen. John McCain is in the Middle East looking presidential. Officially on Senate business, McCain is enjoying photo shoots while his yet-to-be determined Democratic opponents continue ripping into each other.
It is just another spoil of having wrapped up the primary, it is also McCain putting down the foundation for the general election; war on terrorism.
With foreign affairs his strongest asset, McCain will attempt to make the election about foreign issues. Undertaking on such tours as this one is just a part of the process.
The problem is will the American people still see terrorism as the main issue? McCain is banking on the answer being yes.

John McCain’s amendment that would have put a one year moratorium on earmarks e.i. pork barrel spending failed Friday. The amendment was voted down 71-29.
Even though the defeat was not unexpected in D.C., it was a win around the nation. The no vote only works to solidify McCain’s persona as being a maverick. The presidential candidate quickly jumped on the opportunity telling a town hall gathering that clearly Washington is out-of-touch with the voters.
“There’s only one place left in America that they don’t get it, Pork-barrel spending is out of control and Americans want it stopped.” (CNN.com)
Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton voted for the amendment.

Jeremiah Wright is doing more for John McCain than John McCain. The flamboyant and controversial pastor has rained an unintended firestorm upon Barack Obama and John McCain is engulfing the benefits.
As the Democratic fight grows nastier by the day McCain sits safely on the sidelines, gathering money and momentum. Even more important the once pure and angelic persona of Obama has now been rocked by his close affiliation with Wright, who once spoke of 9/11 being justice brought down upon the white man and is Obama’s pastor.
Where this story will ultimately end remains in the shadows of the unknown, but as the story grows by the hour, Obama faces a the greatest crisis of his limited political career. That is a definite victory for McCain.

Republican John McCain visited Baghdad Sunday. The Senator clearly will focus his presidential bid on Iraq and the war on terrorism. One of the few who stood by President Bush after the 2006 mid-term election, McCain will attempt to use that to his full advantage this fall.
